Day-by-day programme

Day 1 Saturday 26 September

In the early afternoon, we set off from Piano Provenzana, on the northern slope of Etna, to reach the Grotta dei Lamponi.

A loop trail that winds through the forests of Etna, passing by mountain huts and crossing landscapes shaped by lava flows, until we reach one of the most striking corners of this side of the volcano.

At the end of the hike, we will reach Rifugio Timparossa, which will be our base for the night. A shared dinner awaits us here: everyone will bring something simple to share with the group, without overdoing it in terms of quantity or preparation. For those who prefer, it will be possible to organize something together and share the costs. We will discuss this at the time of registration.

And after dinner? With a full moon like this, it would be a shame to go straight to sleep.

We will head out for a night walk in search of the most panoramic spot to admire Etna and the surrounding landscape illuminated by the moon.

Day 2 Sunday 27 September

After a hearty breakfast to fuel us up, we pack our bags and head out again.

The second hike will take us towards Monte Pizzillo, reaching an altitude of 2,400 meters, where a unique panorama of the northern slope of Etna awaits us, and on clear days, the Sicilian landscape that opens up all around us.

After our packed lunch, we will begin our return to the cars, following a different route than the one taken on the way up, to discover another face of the volcano.

Two days. One night on the volcano. A full moon to experience on the trail.

Places to visit
  • Monte Pizzillo
