Tuesday, December 29 – Arrival and sunset trek

Arrival at Rifugio Marini, check-in, and preparation for the first hike of our weekend. In the late afternoon, we will set off for a walk through the mountain landscapes of the Madonie, finishing the route after dark, guided by our headlamps, to experience the magic of the mountains under the stars.

Wednesday, December 30 – Monte San Salvatore

We will take on one of the most scenic routes in the Madonie, winding through beech forests and high-altitude terrain, all the way to the summit of Monte San Salvatore, one of the most imposing peaks in the massif. A hike defined by nature, sweeping views, and silence, as we discover the mountainous heart of Sicilia.

Thursday, December 31 – Pizzo Carbonara and New Year's Eve party

We will start from Piano Battaglia to reach Pizzo Carbonara, the highest peak in the Madonie and the second highest in Sicilia after Etna. The trail, with an elevation gain of about 420 meters, crosses beech forests and biodiversity-rich environments. From the top, on clear days, the view embraces the Tyrrhenian Sea and the surrounding mountains. In the evening, we will return to Rifugio Marini to celebrate the arrival of the new year together with a big party.

Friday, January 1 – A final farewell to the Madonie

One of the most evocative routes in the Madonie, passing through Laghetto Mandria del Conte, Vallone Giumenta, and Piano Cervi. The trail traverses diverse environments and a great variety of vegetation, from hawthorn to wild pear, downy oak to ash, and finally poplars and the beech forests at higher altitudes.

In the upper part of the route, between Vallone Giumenta and Piano Cervi, we will enter the heart of the beech forest, walking among towering trees and classic mountain scenery. A particularly atmospheric environment in winter, when the nature of the Madonie takes on a quiet, secluded feel.
