Day-by-day programme

Day 1 Friday 24 April

Arrival and hike to the Castello di Punta Troia. The route starts from the Porto Vecchio and winds along a dirt road followed by a coastal path, immersed in wild vegetation rich in species typical of the island, leading to the Castle: an ancient Saracen tower transformed into a castle in 1140 by Roger II and later used as a prison, primarily for political detainees. Today, following a major restoration, it houses the Prison Museum and an Observatory for the Monk Seal of the Egadi Marine Protected Area.

Approx. 3h30' · elevation gain 250 m · dirt road and trail · packed lunch.

Meeting point

Friday, April 24th at 11:30 AM — Trapani Port, in front of the Fire Department (Port Detachment)

Day 2 Saturday 25 April

Hike to Monte Falcone. Departure from the village, following a mule track immersed in vegetation up to the archaeological site of the Case Romane, evidence of the Roman presence on the island. The route continues towards Monte Falcone, the highest peak of Marettimo, which offers a magnificent 360° view; after a break, we descend along a mid-slope path back to the Case Romane and return to the village through the woods.

Approx. 5 hours · 12 km · elevation gain 650 m · loop (dirt road, mule track, trail) · packed lunch.

Day 3 Sunday 26 April

Boat tour around the island. Departure from the port and sailing north towards Punta Troia and Punta Mugnone to explore stretches accessible only by sea. The western side offers spectacular scenery: sheer cliffs dropping into the sea, caves carved by wind and water, and unique plays of light and transparency.

Approx. 3 hours with a swimming stop · boat tour · packed lunch · swimwear.

End of the hike

Sunday, April 26th at approximately 6:00 PM — Trapani
