Madonie Trekking Experience

June 21st and 22nd, 2025
A trekking weekend in the stunning Madonie area, in the north-central part of Sicily. The peaks of the island's highest mountain range offer breathtaking views, with the Tyrrhenian Sea on one side and the Sicilian hinterland on the other. The landscapes range from oak and beech forests to meadows, inhabited by Mediterranean wildlife such as hares, wild boars, and fallow deer. We will also have the opportunity to meet Prof. Romana, author of the book "Neviere e Nevaioli", who will introduce us to the Sicilian tradition of snow preservation and the production of artisanal granita (a semi-frozen dessert). We will taste a granita prepared according to the ancient method at an altitude of 1800 m a.s.l.

Participation fee: € 65,00

Other expenses: € 80,00

• Includes: B&B accommodation in Petralia Soprana (Saturday), Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast and packed lunch, and the artisanal granita tasting.
• Single room supplement: € 25,00

Expenses not included:
Fuel costs for travel and Saturday's packed lunch.

Deposit: € 65,00 upon registration.
Balance: € 80,00 to be paid on-site.

Logistical details:

• Meeting point: Saturday, June 21st at 09:30 AM, Piano Battaglia (Madonie Park), parking area/intersection between SP54 and SP113. Google Maps Link
• End of excursion: Sunday, June 22nd at 05:00 PM, Madonie.
• Difficulty: Challenging.
• Route: Loop trail.
• Booking deadline: June 10th, 2025 (subject to availability).
• Required equipment: Trekking clothing, rain jacket (k-way), small backpack, hiking boots, hat, sweater, windbreaker, 1.5 liters of water, and personal toiletries.
