Ferragosto Splashing Through Rivers and Waterfalls

August 15 - 17, 2025
Three days immersed in nature among rivers and waterfalls, far from the stress and crowds. This Ferragosto, we’ll be celebrating with a splash, exploring some of the most fascinating valleys in Sicilia. We’ll hike along rivers and swim where needed, crossing breathtaking landscapes that weave together nature, history, and archaeology.
Our base will be Palazzolo Acreide, a stunning Baroque town in the Val di Noto and a UNESCO World Heritage site, the perfect place to experience the authentic soul of southeastern Sicilia.
Day 1 Hike at Cavagrande del Cassibile, one of the most spectacular canyons in Sicilia.
Day 2 Trek along the Torrente Calcinara at Pantalica, amidst crystal-clear waters, unique geological formations, and ancient archaeological sites.
Day 3 Adventure in the Torrente Manghisi, the “Amazon of the Iblei,” a wild and evocative ecosystem.

Participation Fee
€ 75,00 – Includes guide service, accident insurance, and excursion organization.
For insurance purposes, please provide your full name, residential address, and tax code (codice fiscale) at the time of booking. 

Other Expenses
€ 165,00 – Includes 2 nights in a B&B with half-board (breakfast and dinner), accommodation in double or triple rooms, and dinners at local restaurants. Single room supplement: € 30,00

The cost does not include: travel to/from the location, packed lunches, and any extra expenses not specified.
Deposit: € 75,00 at the time of booking.
Balance: € 165,00 to be paid in person on-site.

Logistics

• Meeting point: Friday, August 15 at 09:00 AM on the SS 287 Palazzolo Acreide/Siracusa road, at the Esso gas station before the "La Trota" restaurant. Google Maps Location
• End of trip: Sunday, August 17 at 05:30 PM, Palazzolo Acreide.
• Travel: Own vehicle.

Trekking Details

• Walking time: approximately 5 hours per day (including breaks and swimming)
• Terrain: trails with some rugged sections, presence of brambles, and walking along the riverbed
• Difficulty: moderate

• Waterproof backpack

• Hat and sunscreen
• Flashlight
• 1.5 liters of water
• Personal hygiene items
• For those sensitive to cold, a light wetsuit is recommended
