Coast to Ragusa Trail - STAGE 3 – Modica → Ragusa

Our journey winds through the most evocative corners of the Iblei, blending history, natural landscapes, and ancient traditions. Each stage leads us from one historic town to the next, starting from the coast and gently climbing through valleys, woodlands, and old trazzere (traditional mule tracks), until we finally reach the city of Ragusa. It is a route that combines trekking, culture, and spectacular views—perfect for those who love to discover the authentic side of Sicilia, one step at a time.
Starting from the Chiesa di San Giorgio in Modica, we will cross Modica Alta to join the ancient royal trazzera that will guide us along the Irminio valley all the way to Ragusa Ibla. Along the way, we will admire the quintessential Iblei landscapes before entering Ragusa Ibla through Porta Modica and walking through the historic center's streets to Piazza San Giovanni, where our journey concludes.

Expenses not included:
Travel to and from the meeting point.

Logistical details:

• Meeting point: December 14, 09:00 AM, in front of the Chiesa di San Giorgio, Modica

• Route: approximately 6 hours, forest track, mule track, and marked trail
• Travel: Use of private cars.
• Lunch: Packed lunch.
• Difficulty: Moderate.

• Layered trekking clothing

• Backpack and trekking boots
• Windbreaker jacket
• 1.5 liters of water
