Excursion to Grotta del Gelo - Etna

Join us for a unique adventure through the spectacular landscapes of Etna! During this excursion, we will traverse lush forests, ancient lava flows, mountain huts, deep ravines, and the iconic Grotta del Gelo, at an altitude of 2,040 meters. This cave houses the only perennial glacier in Sicilia and the southernmost one in Europe.

Itinerary
We will start from Piano Provenzana and initially follow a track that will lead us onto a trail across the 2002 lava flow. The route will take us toward Rifugio Timpa Rossa, before veering off in the direction of Grotta del Gelo, passing by the striking ropey lavas. Grotta del Gelo, with its perennial ice, will be our main stop.
For the return, weather permitting, we will take the Grotta del Lago trail, passing at the foot of Monte Pizzillo. In case of fog or unfavorable weather conditions, we will retrace our steps with some detours that will allow us to explore beech forests and old volcanic craters.

• Participation fee: € 25,00
  Includes guide service, accident insurance, and organization. To activate the insurance, please send your full name and tax code (codice fiscale).
• Extra expenses: Round trip travel to the meeting point is not included, packed lunch.
