Epiphany wandering through the beauties of Pantalica

January 6th and 7th, 2024
A trekking experience blending archaeology, history, and nature. We will “immerse” ourselves in the heart of Pantalica and its necropolises. Beyond being a magical nature reserve—the most important in Sicilia—Pantalica holds archaeological treasures and history dating back to the period between the 13th and 7th centuries B.C. It features approximately 5,000 tombs divided into 5 distinct necropolises, the most significant in the world, and has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2005. These honeycomb-like tombs are carved into rocky outcrops, stretching from the Calcinara valley to the Anapo valley. Our adventure includes a visit to the Necropolis, the Sella del Filiporto (west side), and the ruins of the Anaktoron (Prince's Castle). Along the way, we will also visit several Byzantine-era rock-cut churches. A journey of discovery that you won't want to miss.

Fee: € 50,00 - Includes guide services, accident insurance, and excursion organization. For insurance purposes, please kindly send us your full name and tax code (codice fiscale).
Other expenses: € 70,00 includes: overnight stay at an Agriturismo in double or triple rooms, dinner, breakfast, and a packed lunch for Sunday.
Costs do not include: travel expenses to reach the meeting point and a packed lunch for Saturday.
Deposit: € 50,00 upon registration.
Balance: € 70,00 to be paid on-site.
Option for single-day participation: € 20,00 - Includes guide services, accident insurance, and excursion organization.

Difficulty: Moderate. 
Required equipment: trekking clothing, hiking boots, long trousers, hat, trekking poles, flashlight, shower slippers, raincoat, sweater, waterproof jacket, water bottle, and personal toiletries.
