Cool Adventure at the Cassibile River - SR

Summer trekking is all about river walks. Today, we’ve chosen one of the most beautiful Iblei canyons: Cavagrande del Cassibile. The season is perfect for water trekking along the river of the same name. We chose this spot not only for the natural beauty of the canyon but also for the history it has preserved unchanged over the centuries. We will have the chance to observe the passage of man and how nature has adapted to it. The wonderful and spectacular pools that have formed along the riverbed allow us to hike upstream, wading through these natural basins. Our route winds through this stunning landscape, eventually looping back to our starting point.

Not included: travel to and from the meeting point.
Meeting point: Sunday at 09:00 AM along the S.S. 287 Palazzolo Acreide/Siracusa at the Esso gas station, coming from Palazzolo, just before the entrance to the La Trota restaurant. Click here for the Google location.

End of excursion: Sunday at 05:30 PM, at the same meeting point.
Loop trail: approx. 6 hours of walking (including swimming breaks), 250m elevation gain. The path includes rugged areas with brambles and the riverbed.

Lunch: packed lunch
Difficulty: moderate
Required equipment: trekking clothing, waterproof backpack, hiking boots, sun hat, closed-toe water shoes; for those sensitive to cold water, a wetsuit is recommended, swimsuit, 1.5 liters of water.
