3rd Stage #Ibleiround: Palazzolo Acreide - Monterosso Almo

We are thrilled by the overwhelming response to our first #IBLEIROUND, and for this reason, we are pleased to announce that we will be dedicating two days to this event, Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th, with the option to choose.
As true Siculi who love our land, and in our continuous wandering through the beloved Iblei countryside, we have conceived and structured a grand loop trail across the Iblei: #ibleiround.
It will be the ideal journey to savor and enjoy, first, the rolling hills of the Iblei and then the small villages that populate these wonderful landscapes. In the soul of a regular walker, “knowledge” leads to internal and external growth: and so, the places we visit help in this constant development. On this journey, we will experience: history, culture, traditions, nature, crafts, and wisdom… but above all, we will “live” the path. Living the journey & sharing the passion.
The trail will be completed in 5 stages, starting from the Iblei capital, Ragusa, in January and concluding back in Ragusa in May.
3rd Stage: Palazzolo Acreide – Monterosso Almo
We will start from the town center, walking north-west to quickly enter the green hills. We will cross a historic site: the archaeological area of Casmene. We will attempt to follow the route that historically connected this magnificent place, Kasmene, to Akrai (today Palazzolo Acreide). This stretch has been the subject of a thousand discoveries; in fact, the archaeologist Paolo Orsi brought fantastic stories to light here in the early 1900s. After a rest/refreshment break, we will head towards our destination for the day: Monterosso Almo. The scenic final stretch we will cover will be a place for reflection and a farewell until the next stage.
Highlight: Walking as a sport, walking as knowledge.

Lunch: Packed lunch
Itinerary: trails, forest tracks, old mule tracks (trazzere), and Iblei countryside.
Travel: own car.
Difficulty: challenging.
Required equipment: trekking clothing, small backpack, hiking boots, trekking poles, hat, sunscreen, sweater, flashlight, waterproof jacket, and 1.5 liters of water.
N.B. The excursion will be conducted in accordance with current Covid-19 regulations. There is a form to be filled out and signed; you can send it via email or bring a hard copy before we start the excursion.
