1st Stage #Ibleiround: Ragusa - San Giacomo

As true Sicilians who love our land, and in our continuous wandering through the beloved Iblei countryside, we have conceived and structured a great loop trail across the Iblei: #ibleiround.
It will be the ideal journey to savor and enjoy first the gentle hills of the Iblei and then the small villages that populate these wonderful landscapes. In the soul of a regular hiker, “knowledge” leads to internal and external growth: places help us in this constant development. On this journey, we will find: history, culture, traditions, nature, crafts, and wisdom… but above all, we will “live” the path. Living the journey & sharing the passion.
The trail will be completed in 5 stages, starting from the Iblean capital, Ragusa, in January and concluding back in Ragusa in May.
1st Stage: Ragusa Ibla - San Giacomo
Every “great journey” begins with the first step. Starting from the center of Ibla, we will descend into the valley to cross the Irminio river, heading towards Cava delle Monache. From there, we will climb back up, enjoying magnificent views of the Iblean capital, towards the Salinella district.
San Giacomo Bellocozzo will be our destination for the day.
Highlight: Hiking as a sport, hiking as discovery.

Fee: € 10,00 - Includes guide services, accident insurance, and excursion organization.

Lunch: Packed
Itinerary: trails, forest tracks, old mule tracks (trazzere), and Iblean countryside.
Travel: own car.
Difficulty: challenging.
Required equipment: trekking clothing, small backpack, hiking boots, trekking poles, hat, sunscreen, sweater, flashlight, waterproof jacket, and 1.5 liters of water.
N.B. The excursion will be conducted in accordance with current Covid-19 regulations. There is a form to fill out and sign; you can send it via email or bring a hard copy before we start the excursion.
