Epiphany Trekking - RG

Among the most active streams feeding the Irmino river are the Burramaci and the Bafarano. With their seasonal nature, they have carved their course for centuries through a stunning Iblei canyon. Our walk begins in Contrada Carcallè, above the Santa Rosalia dam, ascending from a valley along a forest track. At the start, we will cross the Bafarano bridge and then continue up the valley, skirting the Burramaci stream until we reach the Maina houses. From there, we exit the valley and reach the plateau of Contrada Inguanti, the highest point of today's excursion, where we will take the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscape surrounding the Santa Rosalia dam. The route continues downhill until we return to the starting point.

Expenses not included: packed lunch and fuel costs to reach the meeting point.
Meeting point: Wednesday, January 6th, meeting at 09:00 AM, Contrada Carcallè, reached by taking the SS 194 road in the Ragusa/Giarratana section, above the Santa Rosalia dam. Click here for the Google location link.

Loop trail with fords: approximately 6 hours of walking.
Travel: own car.
Difficulty: moderate.
Required equipment: trekking clothing, rain jacket (k-way), small backpack, hiking boots, hat, waterproof jacket, sweater, and 1.5 liters of water.
