Torrente San Marco - The Emerald of the Iblei

A walk through a crystal-clear green stream, surrounded by butterflies and dragonflies, perfectly captures the extraordinary beauty of this place. An enchanting spot where the pristine water of the stream makes nature shine with vibrant energy, showcasing a rich diversity of plant and animal species in one of the most beautiful corners of the Iblei. We will spend about two hours walking in the water, with short stretches of swimming, ending on a high note as we reach two waterfalls that cascade into small, inviting pools. The return journey will take us through the shade of holm oaks, willows, downy oaks, and other plants that make up “our” Mediterranean scrub. 

Fee: € 15,00 - Includes guide service, RCT insurance, and organization.
Not included: Travel to and from the meeting point.

Meeting point: Saturday, August 28 at 09:30 AM along the S.S. 287 Palazzolo Acreide/Siracusa road, at the Esso gas station, coming from Palazzolo before the entrance to the La Trota restaurant. Click the link below for the Google location.

Loop trail: Approximately 5 hours of walking (including swimming breaks), trail through rugged areas with brambles and the stream bed.
Travel: Use of private car
Difficulty: Moderate
Required equipment: Hiking clothes, backpack, hiking boots, hat, closed-toe water shoes, a wetsuit is recommended for those sensitive to cold water, swimsuit, 1.5 liters of water.
