Monte Pizzillo - Etna North Side

We will set off from Piano Provenzana, taking the track that leads toward the summit craters. After 2km, we will veer off toward Monte Nero, crossing the 2002 lava flow. From there, we will climb the ridge, passing Monte Timpa Rossa and Monte Cacciatore to reach the highest point of the day, Monte Pizzillo (2414 m). If the weather is on our side, the final part of the route will reward us with panoramic views stretching from the Peloritani, Nebrodi, and Madonie mountains, all the way to the Tyrrhenian Sea on the horizon. From Monte Pizzillo, we will descend eastward, with the Ionian Sea and the coast of Calabria unfolding before us, until we return to our starting point.

Fee: € 20.00 – Includes guide services, RCT insurance, and excursion organization. In case of snow, we will use snowshoes. The daily rental cost for snowshoes and poles is € 5.00.

Costs do not include: round-trip travel expenses to reach the meeting point.
Lunch: packed lunch
Challenging loop trail: marked and unmarked paths.
Walking time: 6.5 hours including breaks.
Max number of participants: 20
Required equipment: winter trekking clothing, trekking boots, wool hat, gloves, trekking poles, rain jacket (k-way), sweater, winter waterproof jacket, 1.5 liters of water.
N.B. We respect, care for, and follow the rules for the benefit of everyone. Upon registration, we will send you an email with two attachments regarding Covid-19 information, along with a Word file (1 page) that you must fill out, sign, and hand in as a hard copy before the start of the excursion.
The excursion may be subject to changes due to unpredictable natural events; in such cases, an alternative route will be taken if possible.
