The Balcony of the Iblei - RG

Today’s walk takes us between the territories of Ragusa and Chiaramonte Gulfi, specifically between Contrada San Marco and Serra Grande. For much of the route, we will have the chance to admire a breathtaking panorama that stretches along the Iblei coast to the Gela plain in the west, and from the Madonie to the Etna in the north. We will set off from Contrada San Marco, initially following a mostly flat dirt road, before entering the forest area. We will continue along a track with a gentle incline until we reach Contrada Serra Grande, where we will enjoy our packed lunch while taking in the view. We will then continue through the undergrowth for a short stretch along the ridge, before beginning our descent back via Contrada Menticella.

Expenses not included: packed lunch and fuel costs to reach the meeting point.

Required equipment: trekking clothing, k-way (rain jacket), small backpack, hiking boots, hat, waterproof jacket, sweater, and 1.5 liters of water.
