Monday Hike - From Ragusa to Modica
May 10, 2021
As part of our well-established program, we continue to create proposals for various outdoor activities. “Moving to feel good.” This year, we have added medium and challenging itineraries for those who have Mondays off. The idea was suggested by many of our hairdresser friends who have joined our hikes, and we thought, why not? The years 2020 and 2021 taught us never to take the time we have for our plans for granted, and that flexibility is beneficial for us and for others. Opening our program to meet people who have free time outside of the usual schedule, to stay active and in shape, seemed like a great idea! Starting from Piazza Libertà in Ragusa, we will descend beneath the bridges of Cava Santa Domenica, where we can observe and share stories about the lives of the Ragusani of the past. We will pass through Largo San Paolo and walk through a section of Ibla until we reach the Irminio river. We will cross the river under the iron bridge and take an old 'regia trazzera' (royal mule track) that will lead us to Modica Alta. From the historic center, passing first by the Church of San Giovanni and the Belvedere, we will descend towards Modica Bassa, stopping at points of interest as we stroll along Corso Umberto. After some refreshments, we will head to the train station to catch the train back to Ragusa.
