Cozzo Dirupo Rosso -RG

Among the most active streams feeding the Irmino river are the Burramaci and the Bafarano. With their seasonal nature, they have carved their course for centuries through a stunning Iblei canyon. Our hike begins in Contrada Carcallè, above the Santa Rosalia dam, ascending from a valley along a forest track. At the start, we will cross the Bafarano bridge and then continue up the valley, following the Burramaci stream until we reach the Maina houses. From there, we leave the valley to reach the plateau of Contrada Inguanti and Cozzo Dirupo Rosso (550 m.), the highest point of today's excursion, where we will take in the beautiful landscape surrounding the Santa Rosalia dam. The route continues downhill until we return to our starting point.

 Expenses not included: packed lunch and fuel costs to reach the meeting point.
Meeting point: Sunday, March 14, meeting at 09:00, Contrada Carcallè, reachable via the SS 194 road on the Ragusa/Giarratana stretch, above the Santa Rosalia dam. Click the link below for the Google location.

Required equipment: trekking clothing, k-way (rain jacket), small backpack, hiking boots, hat, waterproof jacket, sweater, and 1.5 liters of water.
