Casasia... and its Surroundings

Hiking… Hiking… Monte Casasia, at 730 m above sea level, will be our natural balcony from which to look out and admire much of the Iblei coast, the Gela plain, and the nearby Erei mountains. This place, full of endless discoveries, served as an outpost for territorial control since the earliest dominations in Sicilia. Here, it feels as though time has stood still, and even today, nature retains the charm typical of the gentle, rolling Iblei countryside. We will observe up close the evidence of human presence dating back to the early Iron Age. Autumn with its scents and colors, and the Dirillo river with its countless historical traces, will provide the backdrop for the rest of this fantastic Sunday. A full immersion into the Iblei forest. Old mule tracks and forest paths will lead us on a pleasant return to our starting point.

Expenses not included: travel to and from the meeting point and packed lunch.

Difficulty: medium.
Elevation gain: approximately 250 m ascent, 250 m descent.
Loop route: approx. 5 hours of walking; dirt roads, marked and unmarked trails.
Required equipment: trekking clothing, k-way, small backpack, hiking boots, hat, waterproof jacket, 1.5 liters of water.
N.B. The excursion will be conducted in accordance with current Covid-19 regulations. A few days before the hike, we will send you an email with the latest information and a Word file (1 page) that you must fill out and sign, to be handed in as a hard copy before the start of the excursion.
