Archaeo-Trekking and Organic Farm (SR)

A Sunday hike that combines our classic, invigorating trekking pace with a touch of history. Along the way, we will visit the archaeological site of Castelluccio, a prehistoric village perched on the edge of the Iblei mountains near Noto, first studied by Paolo Orsi between 1892 and 1893. The village was strategically positioned for defense atop a rocky spur, surrounded by narrow, deep river valleys. The traces of the settlement on this ridge remain clearly visible thanks to various excavations. To wrap up our day, we will arrive at the Albacara “Fattoria del Grano” (Grain Farm), where we will meet Flavia to tour the farm and sample some of their products. This is a company that defines itself through tradition and innovation, acting as a “beating heart” to produce “nutritional wellness,” good food, pure water, and energy for a more sustainable future in harmony with nature.

Fee: € 20.00 – Includes guide services, RCT insurance, and excursion organization + Tasting Menu: a board of organic raw goat's milk cheeses and a taste of Russello wheat focaccia with goat ricotta; bruschetta made with ancient Sicilian Russello wheat bread, topped with Albacara extra virgin olive oil and local olives; fresh-made goat ricotta cannolo and 1 bottle of water.

End of excursion: 16:00 at Azienda Albacara – Fattoria del Grano.
Travel: own car.
Difficulty: moderate.
Route: 5 hours of walking including breaks – dirt roads, marked and unmarked trails.
Required gear: trekking clothing, small backpack, k-way (rain jacket), hiking boots, waterproof jacket, hat, sweater, 1.5 liters of water.
