Noto Antica & Cava Carosello (SR)

Noto Antica is the perfect place to immerse yourself in nature. It is a wonderful spot to discover and savor. Just past the entrance at the Porta della Montagna in Noto Antica, we will begin our trail. We will walk among the ruins of the ancient “Netum,” destroyed by the earthquake of January 11, 1693: a catastrophe that claimed over 60,000 lives in the Val di Noto alone. A history to be experienced and understood. We will continue toward the Eremo di S. Maria della Providenza, located on the southern side with a magnificent view of the valley below. Our next destination will be Cava Carosello. We will pass through the ancient tanneries found within the canyon, where a thriving craft industry once flourished. The route is a loop that returns to the starting point, following a path carved into the typical white limestone of the Iblei canyons.

Expenses not included: travel to and from the meeting point.
