Full Moon at Monte Zoccolaro - Etna

From Zafferana Etnea we will reach Contrada Cassone, the starting point of our hike, where we will take the Nature Trail to reach Monte Zoccolaro. The beauty of the route before reaching the summit lies in the view to the right of the 1991/93 lava flow that reached the outskirts of Zafferana Etnea. From Monte Zoccolaro, a unique landscape of the volcano unfolds before us and, especially under the moonlight, we will be able to admire the entire Valle del Bove and the summit craters—a panorama of extraordinary beauty. Afterwards, we will walk a stretch of the Schiena dell’Asino to begin our descent back to the dirt road that connects Piano del Vescovo to our starting point.

Fee: € 20.00 – Includes guide services, RCT insurance, and excursion organization. In the presence of snow, we will hike using snowshoes. The daily rental cost for snowshoes and poles is € 5.00.

End of excursion: 10:00 PM. Same location as the departure.
Costs do not include: round-trip travel expenses to reach the meeting point.
Dinner: packed meal
Challenging loop trail: marked and unmarked paths.
Walking hours: 5 including breaks.
Max number of participants: 20
Required equipment: winter trekking clothing, hiking boots, wool hat, gloves, trekking poles, rain jacket (k-way), sweater, flashlight, winter waterproof jacket, 1.5 liters of water.
N.B. We respect, follow, and accept the rules for the good of all. Upon registration, we will send you an email with two attachments regarding Covid-19 information and a Word file (1 page) that you must fill out and sign, to be handed in as a hard copy before the start of the excursion.
The excursion may be subject to changes due to unpredictable natural events; in such cases, an alternative route will be taken if possible.
