Spring in the Nebrodi

The Nebrodi are the mountains of the Griffon vultures, a massive mountain range whose highest peak, Monte Soro, rises over 1800 meters, nestled along the northeastern coast of Sicily. Green mountains rich in springs and lakes, such as the Biviere and the Ancipa, define the landscape just as much as the black pigs or the beautiful Sanfratellano horses that graze at high altitudes. Our hikes will depart both days from Relais Villa Miraglia: on Saturday heading east, from Portella Femmina Morta, Monte Soro, and the Biviere and Maulazzo lakes; on Sunday heading west, walking along the ridge between forest tracks and woodland trails, ending the trek at the Ancipa lake.
Our accommodation for this weekend is a small and precious mountain Relais, Villa Miraglia, a landmark of the Nebrodi managed by the Mazzurco family, synonymous with excellence in hospitality and local gastronomy.

Fee: € 30,00, includes guide service, RCT insurance, and organization.
Other expenses: € 65,00 - Includes: overnight stay at Relais Villa Miraglia, accommodation in double, triple, or quadruple rooms, Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast, and Sunday packed lunch.
For those who wish to reach Villa Miraglia on Friday evening to avoid the Saturday morning drive, an additional € 65,00 is required for half-board and the Saturday packed lunch. Please kindly confirm this option at the time of registration.
Expenses do not include: fuel for travel and any extra costs not listed under other expenses.
Deposit: € 30,00 at the time of registration.
Meeting point: Saturday, May 11th at 09:00 AM, Villa Miraglia, Contrada Portella Femmina Morta, SS 289 Cesarò/San Fratello.
End of excursion: Sunday, May 12th at 06:00 PM, Ancipa lake.
Travel: own car.
Difficulty: challenging for both days.
Routes: loop on Saturday and point-to-point on Sunday. We will take care of coordinating the cars to reach the Ancipa lake, the end point of the hike, on Sunday.
Booking deadline: April 26th, 2019, provided that spots are still available.
Required equipment: trekking clothing, rain jacket (k-way), small backpack, hiking boots, flashlight, sweater, windbreaker, gloves, 1.5 liters of water, and personal toiletries.
Notes: the excursion may be subject to changes due to unpredictable natural events; in such cases, an alternative route will be taken if possible.
