From Origins to the Present Day - A Night Walk in and around Comiso

With the warm days of June, a gentle evening walk is both relaxing and rejuvenating. Full moon nights have always cast a special charm over places, people, and the landscape in general. By choosing the town of Comiso for its history, culture, and traditions, and continuing on to the heights of Cava Porcaro, we have combined the very best this area has to offer. We will begin with a town walk starting from the castello dei Naselli d'Aragona, also known as the palazzo del Conte, winding through alleys and narrow streets to admire churches and historic buildings before heading just outside the city. From there, we will join an old path that once connected Comiso to the Iblei plateau on the way to Ragusa. We will stop at Cava Porcaro, a site of immense beauty and the perfect spot to admire and enjoy the full moon night. We will return to Comiso, first following a royal sheep track (regia trazzera) and then completing a loop back to our starting point.

Fee: € 10,00 - Includes guide service, RCT insurance, and organization.
The fee does not include: travel to and from the meeting point.
Meeting point: Saturday 15/06/2019 - 7:30 PM at Castello dei Naselli D’Aragona, Via S. Biagio.
End of excursion: 11:59 PM at the same starting location.

Dinner: packed lunch
Loop trail: approximately 4 hours of walking – On and off-trail paths.
Travel: own car.
Highlight: An ideal spot to admire the starry sky on clear summer nights.
Difficulty: medium.
Required equipment: seasonal trekking clothing, k-way, small backpack, hiking boots, waterproof jacket, sweater or sweatshirt, flashlight, 1.0 liter of water.
