The season for river trekking is officially open. It’s a wonderful time to fully enjoy the Iblei canyons. Cavagrande del Cassibile is a truly “magical” place... Nature and history have remained unchanged here. We will have the chance to observe the traces of human presence and how nature has adapted, and we’ll “test” the cool river waters... an “essential” route! ?
A nature walk and water trekking will be the highlights of today’s excursion.
The presence of perennial water has allowed dense vegetation to thrive along the sheer cliffs, making this environment feel even more pristine and like a place from “another time”.
Our route winds through this scenery, and finally, by following a loop trail, we will return to our starting point.

Fee: € 15.00 - Includes guide service, RCT insurance, and organization.
Expenses do not include: travel to and from the meeting point.
Meeting point: Sunday 30/06/2019 at 09:15 AM along the S.S. 287 Palazzolo Acreide/Siracusa, at the Esso gas station, coming from Palazzolo, just before the entrance to the La Trota restaurant.
End of excursion: Sunday 30/06/2019 at 05:00 PM in Palazzolo Acreide (SR).

Lunch: packed lunch
Loop trail: approximately 6 hours of walking (including swimming breaks), 250m elevation gain. The trail includes some rugged areas with brambles and the riverbed.
Travel: own car.
Difficulty: moderate.
Required equipment: trekking clothing, backpack, hiking boots, hat, closed-toe water shoes, swimsuit, 1.5 liters of water.
