Anapo & Calcinara - Pantalica (SR)

There are places that leave a mark on your soul. Places where your heart and spirit are completely transported: the Anapo and the Calcinara are rivers that possess these very qualities. Pantalica, with its millenary history, will welcome us on today's walk. History, culture, nature, and… water trekking. Perfect spots to make the excursion truly rewarding; ideal places to savor and experience nature. In short, today's journey will be a 360° trek! We will begin the day by visiting the main points of interest of this naturalistic-archaeological site, with a mandatory stop at the Sella di Filiporto. Then we will start the trail that leads us to the area known as “a vuttigghiria”, pass by the Galermi aqueduct, and finally reach the valley floor. The rivers flowing through these valleys have shaped the landscape of these wonderful places. We will conclude the excursion by arriving beneath the Grotta dei Pipistrelli (Bat Cave). From there, we will take a path that leads us back to our starting point.

Expenses not included: travel to and from the meeting point.
Meeting point: Sunday 25/08/2019 at 09:00 AM at Ferla - Piazza Crispi, in front of the Chiesa Sant’Antonio Abate.
End of excursion: Sunday 25/08/2019 at 05:00 PM at the same starting location.
Highlight: The pristine nature, the silence of the valley, the sky and the sun reflecting “naturally,” creating brilliant and vivid colors.

Loop trail: approximately 6 hours of walking (including swimming breaks), trail through rugged areas with brambles and riverbed terrain.
