White Tracks - Snowshoeing in the Nebrodi

The Nebrodi are the mountains of the Griffon vultures, a mountain range where the highest peak, Monte Soro, rises over 1800 meters, nestled along the northeastern coast of Sicilia. These green mountains, rich in springs and lakes like the Biviere di Cesarò, are defined by their landscape as much as by the black pigs or the beautiful Sanfratellani horses that graze at high altitudes. Our snowshoeing excursions will take place between Portella Femmina Morta, Monte Soro, Lago Maulazzo, and off-trail through the woods. The program may be subject to changes based on weather conditions, and the use of equipment may vary depending on the snow cover. Each excursion lasts approximately 5 hours.

Fee: € 35.00, includes guide service, RCT insurance, snowshoe and pole rental, and organization.
Other expenses: € 55.00 - Includes: overnight stay in a hotel or Agriturismo, Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast, and Sunday packed lunch.
Expenses do not include: Saturday packed lunch and fuel costs for travel.
Meeting point: Saturday, February 24th at 09:30 AM, Portella Femmina Morta, SS 289 Cesarò/San Fratello.
End of excursion: Sunday, February 25th at 05:00 PM, Portella Femmina Morta.

Required equipment: trekking clothing, rain jacket (k-way), gaiters, small backpack, hiking boots, flashlight, wool hat, sweater, windbreaker, gloves, 1 liter of water, (for drivers, snow chains)
Notes: the excursion may be subject to changes due to unpredictable natural events; in such cases, an alternative route will be taken if possible.
For those departing on Friday afternoon. Here are the meeting points and times. From Ragusa at Bar Bruscé at 02:30 PM – From Catania Airport, 1st floor departures, outside bus parking at 04:00 PM – For those coming from other cities in Sicilia, at Cesarò at 06:00 PM.
Participants arriving on February 23rd in Cesarò must add € 55.00 for Friday half-board and the Saturday 24th packed lunch.
