Sea & Mountains - 2nd Stage Scicli - Modica

Leaving behind the beautiful town of Scicli, a royal city for about a hundred years, we will set off towards Modica. Our route follows an ancient path known as the “mill trail,” crossing the Fiumelato stream before climbing up to Cozzo Cavadduzzo. Here, we can take one last look back at Scicli and its sea on the horizon. Cozzo Cavadduzzo is a woodland area managed by the Forestry Department, home to the Mangiagesso picnic area, where we will stop for a packed lunch. Our destination is the Modica of today, the County of yesterday; we will have the chance to “savor” it through its narrow streets and alleys, monuments, and imposing churches, concluding with a visit to the Castello dei Conti. This defensive structure, perched on a promontory with an original 14th-century polygonal tower, served for centuries as the seat of political and administrative power for the historic County of Modica.
Upon arrival, a little surprise for us to enjoy together.

Fee: € 10,00 - Includes guide service, organization, and RCT insurance.
The fee does not include: packed lunch and travel fuel costs.
Meeting point: Sunday 08/04/2018 at 09:00 AM, in front of the Scicli Town Hall entrance.
End of excursion: 05:00 PM in Modica.
Travel: own car.
Route: 5 hours of walking – Road, forest track, mule track, marked trail and fords.
Difficulty: moderate.
Lunch: packed.
Equipment: required: trekking clothing, small backpack, k-way (rain jacket), hiking boots, waterproof jacket, hat, sweater, 1.5 liters of water.
