The Chestnut Trek - Etna

Autumn has arrived, bringing its seasonal bounty with it... Choosing Etna for this excursion, embarking on an autumn hike, selecting the chestnut groves, and sharing a passion for nature—these four elements come together to bring a magnificent sense of inner peace. For this chestnut-harvesting occasion, we will be welcomed by the "Le Delizie dell’Etna" farm, run by Signora Jessica Tomarchio. It is a wonderful family-run business where they still cultivate the land with passion and great love, resulting in a product of excellent quality. During our visit to the farm, we will complete a 12 km loop hike on this northeastern slope. We will start at an altitude of approximately 1,000 meters and continue our loop, reaching about 1,300 meters. We will experience nature by crossing corners of unique beauty that can only be fully appreciated through this type of excursion.

Fee: € 20.00 - Includes guide service, use of the facility for lunch, chestnut tasting, organization, and RCT insurance.
Not included: Packed lunch and travel/fuel expenses.
Meeting point: Sunday 08/07/2018 at 09:30 AM in Milo (CT), via Etnea, in front of the church of Sant'Andrea.
End of excursion: 17:30 at the same starting point.
Travel: Use of own car.
Highlight: Mountain trails, the beauty of Etna, and autumn chestnuts.
Loop trail: 5 hours of walking – Forest track, mule track, marked and unmarked paths.
Difficulty: Medium.
Lunch: Packed lunch
Required equipment: Trekking clothing, small backpack, k-way (rain jacket), hiking boots, waterproof jacket, hat, 1.5 liters of water.
