The Nurse's Trail (Il Sentiero dell'Infermiere) - RG

Our walk today begins on the slopes of Monte Raci, the last hill overlooking Comiso. From its 611-meter peak, we will admire a panorama that stretches along the Iblei coast all the way to the Gela plain. Descending along a royal 'trazzera' (ancient shepherd's path), we will head towards Colle San Marco, passing by the farmhouses that give the district its name. The 'Sentiero dell'Infermiere' will be our next destination, following a track within the forest trail created by the long journeys animals once made to carry seeds and harvests from the valley to the hills of our Iblei lands. Our loop trail will conclude by returning via the 'Scannalupi' path. The natural corners of Cava dei Modicani will accompany us back to our starting point. With spring just around the corner... this is an area of a thousand scents and colors.

Expenses not included: packed lunch and fuel costs for travel.
Meeting point: Sunday 18/02/2018 at 09:00 AM at Piazzale Decathlon Ragusa.
End of excursion: 05:00 PM at the same starting point.
Travel: own car.
Route: 5 hours of walking – Trazzere, trails, and forest tracks.
Difficulty: challenging.
Lunch: packed.
Equipment: required: trekking clothing, small backpack, k-way (rain jacket), hiking boots, waterproof jacket, hat, sweater, 1.5 liters of water.
