The "Sweet" Tributary: Cava Gria (Ragusa)

Today's excursion is dedicated to a pleasant walk, soaking in the charm of our views over Ibla and its surroundings. Beyond the river valley that separates the two municipalities of Ragusa and Modica, in the territory of San Giacomo, lies one of the typical Iblei canyons: Cava Gria. We will follow a loop trail accessible to everyone; the route does not present any major difficulties. We will be accompanied along our path by stunning autumn/winter flora. We will start by crossing and skirting the Diga Santa Rosalia, then head into the canyon named after the stream that feeds into the Irminio river. The day will be enriched by reaching several panoramic viewpoints, walking along the bed of the Gria stream, and wading across it at its lowest point. The final stretch will take us along the edge of the Diga Santa Rosalia before returning to our starting point.

Fee: € 10,00. Includes guide service, RCT insurance, and organization.
Expenses not included: travel to and from the meeting point.

Loop trail: approximately 5 hours of walking, along royal sheep tracks (regie trazzere), marked and unmarked paths.
Travel: own car.
Difficulty: medium.
Highlights: the artificial reservoir reflecting brilliant and vibrant colors.
Required equipment: winter trekking clothing, small backpack, k-way (rain jacket), hiking boots, waterproof jacket, hat, 1.5 liters of water.
