Waiting for Christmas on Etna

A time of year when each of us seeks to listen to our own heart, to be in good company, with family and true friends, and to share a smile!
Our pre-Christmas hike this weekend will take place on Etna, the beloved "Mountain" of the Sicilians. This time, we have chosen the southern slope of the volcano. On Saturday, weather permitting, we will reach Monte Escriva at an altitude of 2660 meters, a crater formed in 2001 where we can still warm ourselves today thanks to the water vapor fumaroles inside. On Sunday, we will head to Monte Zoccolaro, from where we can admire the spectacular Valle del Bove and part of the Schiena dell'Asino, before losing ourselves in the chestnut and beech forests in the Piano del Vescovo area.

Expenses include: overnight stay in a mountain hut (accommodation in double and triple rooms), Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast, and Sunday packed lunch.
Expenses do not include: fuel costs for travel and Saturday's packed lunch.
Deposit: € 25,00 upon registration.

Difficulty: challenging
Booking: by December 16th, provided there is still availability.
Required equipment: trekking clothing, hiking boots, winter jacket, fleece, wool hat, gloves, flashlight, 1.5 liters of water, a spare t-shirt, and personal toiletries.
Overnight stay and dinner: in a rural house.
Notes: the excursion may be subject to changes due to unpredictable natural events; in such cases, an alternative route will be taken if possible.
