His Majesty - Etna and its Landscapes

Etna offers unforgettable landscapes in every season and at every hour of the day, between the red of the sun and the black of the lava flows that change color at every moment. We will observe old eruptive craters, the Valle del Bove, and the panorama that overlooks all of eastern Sicilia.
Starting on foot from Rifugio Sapienza (1880 m), (or by one-way cable car for € 24,00), we will reach M. Escriva at an altitude of 2660 meters, a crater from 2001. From here, our journey begins, accompanied by scenery transformed by recent eruptions. After skirting the Montagnola, staying at altitude and admiring the magnificent view of the entire Valle del Bove from above, the most spectacular and fun part begins with the descent of the southern side of the Montagnola. In just over an hour, we descend 600 m in altitude with the sensation of losing the sense of gravity. The route is marked and demanding due to the nature of the terrain, but not difficult. Finally, we descend along a path to return to the starting point.

Costs do not include: round-trip travel expenses to reach the meeting point and any use of the cable car (cost € 24,00 per person).
Meeting point: Friday, June 02 at 09:30 AM at Rifugio Sapienza, (Etna).
End of excursion: 5:30 PM at Rifugio Sapienza
Lunch: packed.
Difficulty: demanding.
Elevation gain: 780 m uphill without cable car (only 170 m uphill with cable car), 780 m downhill.
Required equipment: trekking clothing, small backpack, hiking boots, hat, sunscreen, sweater, waterproof jacket, and 1.5 liters of water (2 liters for those who drink more).
