Today's walk is all about discovering the stories hidden within the green heart of the city. Join us for an open-to-all stroll through a stunning landscape steeped in history, tradition, and culture, where the slow rhythm of human footsteps has shaped and transformed this place over time.
Perched on a limestone cliff, Ragusa overlooks historic Ibla (lower Ragusa) like a natural balcony—a city forever changed by the fateful date of January 11, 1693. That moment left an indelible mark on the history of the “Ibleo” people. We will descend into Cava Santa Domenica, the true green lung of Ragusa, visiting some of its most evocative corners. From ancient stone quarries (latomie) to lime kilns (carcare) and more, every nook tells a story of the daily lives once lived within this valley.

Meeting point: Sunday, May 21 at 10:00 AM, Piazza Libertà – Ragusa.
End of excursion: 1:00 PM at the same starting point.
Travel: own car.
Difficulty: easy.
Loop trail: 3 hours of walking including stops - Marked trail.
Equipment: clothing suitable for a nature walk, small backpack, sports shoes or hiking boots, jacket, 1 liter of water.
